teacher at the bauhaus, incredible draftsman, friendships with many of the important european artists and musicians, creator of color filled whimsical, child like, incredibly charming paintings
meeting the cubist painters in Paris 1912 began his use of rectangles
trip to Tunisia, 1914; brilliant light inspired color change;

explored color, line, and shape using oil, watercolor, gouache, pastel, ink;

on paper, canvas, burlap, jute, cardboard; he enjoyed the different textures;

he created a lyrical visual language; telling stories in hieroglyphs.
